Meet Oluwatosin

Hi, I’m Tosin, I’m a 23-year-old student and Makeup enthusiast. From a young age, I was intrigued by makeup and have always sought after getting it “right”. I remember watching my first makeup tutorial on youtube and making a list of all the products I thought I needed, going to a popular store with the money I’d saved, and not finding anything for my skin tone. My first foundation was £3 from an unknown brand in a hair shop and it was terrible. I also realised that the shade wasn’t really a skin tone that existed and the undertones didn’t suit me at all. Although I was initially discouraged, this was the beginning of me realising that there wasn’t as much availability for darker people as there are for Caucasians and those of lighter complexions when it came to drugstore products and I decided that I wanted to do something about it. This genuinely upset me and the best way I thought I could make an impact was to keep researching and to share this with others so they wouldn’t have to struggle like I did. My obsession with skincare came much later after I realised that my makeup skills were improving, but that my ‘canvas’ wasn’t as smooth and clear as it could be. This prompted me to delve into the world of skincare to improve my skin and ultimately give my makeup the flawless finish I was searching for. The main aim of this blog is to share with you guys reviews, tips, tricks, products and opinions on makeup and skincare brands/products best suited for people of colour, I also want to touch on issues with diversity and availability for people of colour in this industry.
